Acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura is the non-hereditary form of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), characterized by profound peripheral thrombocytopenia, microangiopathic hemolytic anemia (MAHA) and single or multiple organ failure of variable severity.
