Latent tuberculosis infection

Definition

Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection that does not induce infectious expression of the disease in the affected person, although it can cause continuous immune response generated towards TB antigens; person having LTBI are asymptomatic and acting as a reservoir of active tuberculosis tuberculosis cases and Mycobacterium tuberculosis and run a 5-10% risk of reactivating tuberculosis throughout their lives.
