Congenital insensitivity to pain

Definition

A rare hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy characterized by the inability to perceive physical pain from birth. Affected individuals do not feel pain from injuries, burns, or infections and cannot detect harmful levels of heat, cold, or pressure, which can lead to repeated unrecognized injuries, impaired healing, and serious complications.
