Cangrelor

ATC Code B01AC25

Cangrelor

Definition

An inhibitor of the platelet adenosine diphosphate (ADP) P2Y12 receptor (P2Y12R), with antiplatelet activity. Upon administration, cangrelor selectively and reversibly binds to P2Y12R, and blocks the platelet signaling pathway. This inhibits the activation of the glycoprotein complex GPIIb/IIIa, fibrinogen binding to platelets and platelet adhesion and aggregation.
