Lusutrombopag

ATC Code B02BX07

Lusutrombopag

Definition

An orally available thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor (TPOR; MPL) agonist, with potential megakaryopoiesis stimulating activity. Upon administration, lusutrombopag binds to and interacts with the transmembrane domain of human TPO receptor expressed on megakaryocytes, which leads to the proliferation and differentiation of megakaryocytic progenitor cells from hematopoietic stem cells. This increases the production of platelets and may prevent or treat thrombocytopenia in patients with chronic liver disease. TPOR is a cytokine receptor and member of the hematopoietic receptor superfamily.
