Ventriculoperitoneal shunt

Definition

A therapeutic procedure that involves the placement of a tube in one of the ventricles of the brain to allow for drainage of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) into the peritoneal cavity. It is used to relieve hydrocephalus.
