Vitreous Humor Aspiration with Vitreous Replacement

Definition

Aspiration of the vitreous humor to remove fluid debris or to repair the retina. The vitreous is replaced with a clear fluid (sterile saline, silicone, oil) or a gas bubble until the vitreous regenerates on its own in order to maintain the correct shape and proper positioning of the retina.
